The Master of Science in Game Development at Illinois is where creativity meets technology — and where students transform their passion for interactive worlds into professional careers.

Part of the Informatics Program, this fully online program offers a comprehensive blend of foundational theory, technical skill-building, creative exploration, and professional development for those interested in working in game studios, game-adjacent industries, or any field where interactive design is in demand.

Studemts will gain a strong theoretical framework alongside hands-on studio experience, developing and producing real games with industry partners during your second year. Along the way, you’ll strengthen your expertise in communication, collaboration, and professional business practices — all essential for success in this fast-evolving field.
