The Taxation Graduate Certificate develops leaders who understand the U.S. federal tax system as it relates to individuals, employees, and sole proprietors; the U.S. federal income tax treatment of corporations and pass-through entities; state and local income tax laws prevalent in the U.S.; and the tax treatment, issues, planning techniques, and underlying government policies involved in doing business internationally.

  • The U.S. federal tax system as it relates to individuals, employees, and sole proprietors.
  • The U.S. federal income tax treatment of corporations and pass-through entities, including Subchapter S corporations, partnerships, and limited liability companies.
  • State and local income tax laws prevalent in the U.S. today, including their historical progression and strategies for minimizing their impact.
  • The tax treatment, issues, planning techniques, and underlying government policies involved in doing business internationally.
  • Professional tax practice responsibilities and ethics, including the regulation of tax advisers under both federal regulation and professional guidelines.

Course Details

The Taxation Graduate Certificate is comprised of four courses for a total of twelve credit hours.

  • ACCY 505: Federal Taxation
  • ACCY 507: Taxation of Business Entities (pre-requisite of ACCY 505)
  • ACCY 550: Multistate Taxation (pre-requisite of ACCY 507)
  • ACCY 554: International Taxation
