The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers a Campus Graduate Certificate (CERT) in Middle Grades Education with an option to pursue a master’s degree. Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a relevant content area are eligible for the program. The Middle Grades Education (MGE) program will be offered with endorsements in two areas (Literacy and Science), but candidates may choose to concentrate in one area alone.
The Middle Grades Education Certificate program focuses on English and science concentrations. The typical Plan of Study is 33 to 37 hours, and coursework can be completed in 18 months (Summer 1, Fall, Spring, Summer 2).
