iBSW Program

The undergraduate iBSW Program at the School of Social Work provides a comprehensive, educational experience for junior-level transfer students and prepares graduates for excellence in the areas of social work practice, policy, community engagement, and leadership. Students will earn a CSWE-accredited Bachelor of Social Work degree through a combination of online courses and in-person field placements based on your locations. The application deadline for the fall term is March 1st.

Upon graduation students can gain entry into the practice of social work, have advanced standing in graduate social work programs, and/or easily transition into various career opportunities. Students earn field education experience with locally based internships. Graduates can also seamlessly transition into our one-year advanced standing MSW program in Urbana or Chicago.

iMSW Program

Our online part-time Master of Social Work program is designed for working professions.  This program prepares individuals with the skills and knowledge to practice social work at an advanced level within public and private agencies. Choose from either the Advanced Clinical concentration or the Leadership and Social Change Concentration.  With the Block Field Placement students can choose to do either a full-time internship or a part-time internship once their core coursework has been completed.

**Advanced Standing status is only eligible to students who have a Bachelor's of Social Work degree from an accredited program with the Council on Social Work Education within the past 7 years.

What are the transfer student requirements for the iBSW?
  • Transfer students accepted for the Fall semester only
  • A minimum GPA of 2.75 (A=4.00)
  • Evidence of strong communication and interpersonal skills demonstrated through applicant's personal statement
