Illinois Pre K-12 Teachers
BILINGUAL & ESL EDUCATION provides you with a better understanding of key teaching strategies to support multilingual students in the classroom. You'll have the opportunity to learn how to create more engaging learning environments by integrating new media technologies for all students, regardless of language. You'll learn research-based curricular and instructional strategies, including the use of new digital media to effectively teach students for whom English is a second language.
ENDORSEMENT 
BILINGUAL & BI-CULTURAL EDUCATION provides all educators with a better understanding of key teaching strategies that can help support multilingual students in their classrooms. It aligns with the course sequence for The Bilingual and ESL Endorsements, designed for Illinois educators who wish to add an endorsement to their Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL). Students will learn research-based curricular and instructional strategies, including the effective use of new digital media to teach students for whom English is a Second Language.

DIVERSITY & EQUITY IN EDUCATION is a social-justice oriented program that provides you with transformative approaches to issues related to diversity and equity in P-16 learning environments. Courses will help teachers, administrators, school staff, and other educators to understand how diversity and equity relates to learning theories, leadership, and pedagogy. Our interdisciplinary approach to diversity and equity will cover the intersections of disability, race, gender, sexual orientation, social class, and poverty.

Students use new digital media to enhance the ways in which they can learn and understand, thus improving the learning process. It also addresses the challenges of differentiating instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. Instructional technologies such as computer-based instruction, computer-based testing, distance learning, interactive video, and intelligent instructional technologies are covered.

Educational leadership and practice are emphasized in the program. Specialized study provides preparation leading to an Illinois Principal's License.
