The Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism in the College of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers an online Master of Science degree in Recreation, Sport and Tourism. This degree provides you with a quality and highly accessible education, ensuring that you are prepared to meet the changing requirements of the leisure services industry. The M.S. in Recreation, Sport and Tourism delivers courses using online instruction that emphasizes group collaboration, concluding with a final course dedicated to the writing of a professional paper. Consisting of nine courses in 8-week segments starting every two months, the degree can be completed in 18 months. The program is very flexible and allows students to “stop out” during busy times of employment. Students who stop out can come back at the next term and pick up right where they left off. It is expected to spend around 20-25 hours per week on the course work.
Cohorts start in September, January and May. Courses are eight weeks in length, and applications are accepted throughout the year.
