Information management is a broad area and is evolving rapidly, with many new opportunities arising. Organizations of all kinds increasingly rely on the strategic use of information to create solutions to society’s most pressing challenges. Our goal is to give you a competitive edge in securing a rewarding position, make you an expert in helping organizations better manage and utilize information, and educate you to be a future leader. The Master of Science in Information Management (MS/IM) is a new online master's degree—offered both online and on campus—that prepares leaders in the field who develop services and systems to meet human information needs in a range of employment sectors. The degree is designed to meet the demand for well-prepared information professionals who are skilled in using, managing, analyzing, and distributing information. Our MS/IM graduates will be poised to lead the way in wielding the world’s growing information resources for the greater good.
With only three required courses—and a programming course, if needed—the curriculum is very flexible and can be customized based on career interests. Students work with professors to identify strengths and career goals and build the skills required to meet the needs of employers in that field. The MS/IM helps you identify your dream job and then cultivate the skills to obtain that position and have a successful career.
